Bentley Systems, at its 2022 Year in Infrastructure event, introduced a line of improved products that make use of digital twins and cloud-based information to facilitate faster and more accurate project delivery.
For instance, Bentley's sophisticated additive manufacturing (AM) system can convert 3D models created by CAD into physical components. The technology was used to make everything from on the job assistance tools for Bentley's associates in manufacturing to the historically accurate tools to restore its famous woodshop and a lightweight sanding blocks needed to build Bentley cars that were driven in record breaking time at the Pikes Peak Challenge.
A number of improvements to Bentley's ProjectWise platform were announced which included new digital components reuse capabilities; expanded capabilities for civil design review and advanced design validation and a Drive Simulation tool to experience the drivability of designs and ensure proper sight lines and the capability to incorporate multiple project file formats within the same workspace for collaborative design reviews. Bentley also introduced the new Bentley Infrastructure Cloud, a collection of integrated solutions that span infrastructure project lifecycles.
The new solutions include an iTwin Bridge Monitoring system which makes use of drone video and iTwin Capture to provide real-time bridge inspections, as well being able to monitor and track performance using IoT sensors layered on a digital twin; and a Dam Monitoring solution that provides unidirectional access to sensors' information. Bentley is also working to integrate its iTwin platform with the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) to assist users meet sustainability standards.
